The Congregation of the Sisters of Christian Instruction, also known as the Sisters of Saint-Gildas-des-Bois, recently held its 37th General Chapter from July 13 to 30, 2023. What was it all about ?

The 30 delegates representing all the Sisters met to review the past six years and prepare for the next six.

Four themes or directions have already emerged: “I appoint you as a watchman to recognize and sow seeds of hope, to welcome salvation and rekindle your missionary spirit, to be a woman of compassion and a creator of peace, to safeguard and promote the unity of the Congregation.

During the Chapter, a new governing team was appointed: Sister Françoise Piou was elected Superior General. Sisters Victorine Kanziomo, Catherine Broche, Odile Kaboré, and Dominique Guérin were elected General Councilors. They will be responsible for advising and assisting the new Superior in her mission. The outcome of these elections marks a turning point in the history of the Congregation, as for the first time two General Councilors are from Burkina Faso.

The sisters thanked the previous leadership team and wished their successor a fruitful term.
